Key Points of the Requirement
Define the tool type (parallel electric or pneumatic gripper, vacuum suction array, magnetic gripper, welding or dispensing tool, or custom combination), payload and grip force, stroke and jaw opening, repeatability, and cycle-time targets. Specify the robot flange interface (ISO 9409-1 bolt pattern), actuation preference, sensor feedback (position, force, part-presence), finger or tooling customization needs, and the operating environment (cleanroom, washdown, IP rating, temperature).

Electric grippers are driven by motor, driver, gear, and encoder cost plus precision-machined bodies; pneumatic versions trade these for cylinders and valves at much lower cost but add air-supply dependency. Custom fingers and fixtures are machined per application and quoted separately. Sensors, cables, and connectors add measurably, and low-to-mid volumes carry significant per-unit assembly and test cost.

Procurement Considerations
Prioritize manufacturers with published cycle-life data (5–10 million cycles), force repeatability figures, and controller compatibility (IO-Link, Modbus, or EtherCAT) documented for your robot. Provide part drawings or samples for finger design, and confirm who owns finger tooling and design files. Request grip-force verification reports and sample-unit testing on your actual parts, and clarify warranty, spare-finger lead times, connector and cable standards, packaging, Incoterms, and delivery destination.
