Requirement analysis
Product Analysis
Key Points of the Requirement
Define the module type (containerized IT, power, or cooling modules, or prefab white-space rooms), capacity per module in racks and kW, PUE target, and redundancy configuration (N, N+1). Specify external utility interfaces (power feed, water or air for cooling), transport constraints (standard container dimensions and site access), site readiness scope, deployment-time expectations, and the environmental ratings (seismic, wind, temperature) for the destination.
Cost Structure Analysis
Costs combine the container or prefab structure, integrated power chain (UPS, busway, PDU), cooling system, racks and cabling, fire protection and monitoring, and factory testing, plus shipping and craning. Compared with traditional construction, modular delivery shifts cost toward equipment and factory labor but compresses schedule dramatically and gives predictable quality; economies are strongest at small-to-medium scale and edge deployments.
Estimated Cost Range
Indicative pricing: standard 20–40ft IT modules (10–50 racks) $50,000–$300,000 per module; all-in prefab solutions roughly $6M–$12M per MW depending on redundancy and cooling type; liquid-cooled GPU modules price above this range. Final quotations depend on power density, redundancy, environmental ratings, and site-integration scope.
Procurement Considerations
Require a factory acceptance test (FAT) under load before shipment and define measured-PUE acceptance criteria versus design claims. Confirm transport certifications, lifting and site-access assumptions, interface responsibility boundaries with site utilities, and destination environmental ratings (wind, seismic, temperature). Clarify commissioning support, as-built documentation, spare-part packages, warranty scope on the integrated systems, Incoterms, and delivery destination.
